Roy Stokley, 77, a
resident of Morton died Saturday, March 23, 2013 at the University Medical
Center in Jackson, MS. Visitation was held 5-9 pm Monday, March 25, 2013 at Ott
and Lee Funeral Home in Morton. Funeral services were held 3 pm Tuesday, March
26, 2013 at the funeral home with burial in the East Morton Baptist Church
Cemetery. Rev. Kenny Lang and Rev. T.J. Porter officiated the services. Ott and
Lee Funeral Home in Morton was in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Stokley was a native
of Silas, AL and a longtime resident of Morton. He was the son of Earl Odell
and Willie Gray Cooper Stokley. He was married to Maxine Amacker Stokley and
they were members of the East Morton Baptist Church. Mr. Stokley was a truck
driver for over 30 years with Pace Maker. He enjoyed being outdoors, fishing
and drive the truck. He will be remembered as a loving daddy and pap. He loved his family very
much and spending time with them brought great joy to his life. He will be
greatly missed by all who loved and knew him.
Mr. Stokley was preceded
in death by his parents Earlie and Willie Gray Cooper Stokley, siblings, Taylor
Earl Stokley, Bobby Jean Stokley, Gray Branson, Julias Stokley and Edna Earl
Whatford.
Mr. Stokley is survived
by his wife, Maxine Stokley of Morton; son, Roy Stephen (Carla) Stokley of
Forkville; daughters, Lisa Ezelle (Billy) Russell of Morton and Betty Elizabeth
(Paul) Martin of Wesson; sisters, Mary Helen (Larkin) Bexley of Leakesville and
Betty Ann (Paul) Hillman of McLain; brothers, Leroy (Donna) Stokley of
Ellisville; 6 grandchildren, Stacie Stokley Maze, Alex Morado, Andy Morado,
Anna Morado, Alex Martin and Adam Martin; 7 great grandchildren, 1 great-great
grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
Serving as pallbearers
were Ryan Stokley, Jimmy Westberry, Arthur Callahan, Chris Stokley, Duran
Jenkins, Rev. T.J. Porter and serving as honorary pallbearer was Kenny Wayne
Stokley.
