Roy E. Williams, 85, went to be with the Lord Thursday, August 16, 2012 at his home in Richland, MS
Visitation is 1 – 3 pm Sunday, August 19, 2012 at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Richland, MS. Funeral Services are 3 pm Sunday from the Chapel of Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Richland with burial to follow in Glenwood Memorial Park Cemetery in Richland.
Roy Edward Williams was born on August 23, 1926 in Escatawpa, Alabama to the late Van Lister and Ruth Caroline Marie Emerien Williams. He was a U. S. Navy Veteran of World War II. He had been a resident of Richland, MS since 1984 having moved from Brandon, MS. He was a Mason , a member of the Pearl F&AM Lodge #23, a Shriner, and had opened the first Carquest auto parts store in Mississippi in Richland.
Roy was a member of Richland First United Methodist Church; was a Lay Member to the Annual Conference, and a member of the Administrative Board. He was also a member of the United Methodist Men of Richland; and was a founding board member of South Rankin Food Network.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Dean Williams of Richland; his daughter, Candy Williams Houck and husband, Skip of Richland; his son, Roy “Ted” Williams, Jr. and his wife, Teri of San Antonio, TX; his sister, Eva Marie Williams Lomax Quiggle of Chickasaw, AL.; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Richland First United Methodist Church or the Methodist Children’s Home.
