Ruby Lee Johnson
Morton
Matriarch, number one supporter, mammaw, mom and sister, Ruby Lee Johnson, made the journey to her heavenly home early this morning, Friday, February 22, 2019. Visitation will be held, 5pm-8pm Sunday, February 24, 2019 at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton and 9am-10:45am Monday, February 25, 2019 at North Morton Baptist Church. Services will be held 11am Monday at North Morton Baptist Church with burial in Morton Memorial Gardens. Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton.
Ruby Lee was born October 16, 1939. She loved her family more than life itself. None of the family was ever in the wrong, even if they admitted the wrong, it was still someone elses fault. She supported all of her family in anything and everything they did. Her short stature, temper and stubborness were nothing compared to the enormous amount of love she had for her family. She no longer is suffering but walking the streets of gold with Jesus today. At Christmas she gave each of the family a signed $2 bill and her words were, “As long as you keep this, you will never be broke and you will always have something I gave you to remember me by.” She will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew her.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Willie B. Short and Bertha Mae Jacobs Short; husband, Charles Ray Johnson; sister, Martha Ann Ingram; brothers, Jack Field Short and Richard “Mickey” Short; special friend and grandpaw, Douglas Johnson.
She is survived by her children, Jerry Ray Johnson (Rosey) of Louin, Sharon Currie of Morton and Marilyn Hines (Charlie Ray) of Branch; sister, Emma Jean Salers of Forest; 7 grandchildren, Benji Johnson (Lauren), Meagan Johnson (Victor), Ashton Currie, Jim Currie (Daeelyn), Delicia Anderson (Tim), Jr. Hines (Anna) and Chuck Hines (Shelby); 9 great grandchildren, Victoria, Braxton and Braden Johnson, Alexander Currie, Devan & Rheaghen Anderson, Asher, Krimson and Hunter Hines; a host of friends.
Pallbearers will be Benji Johnson, Jr. Hines, Chuck Hines, Jim Currie, Phillip Stamper and Jack Short. Honorary pallbearers will be Burt Short, Roger Stamper, Ronnie Short, Donnie Short, Braxton Johnson and Willie Short.
