BrandonRuby Butler Poole was born in Bienville, LA on August 18, 1911 and went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 23, 2011.
After graduation from High School she attended Louisiana College and graduated with a B.S. degree in Elementary Education. Later Ruby attended the University of Arkansas and received her Masters of Education degree. She married her high school sweetheart, Henry Tate Poole, and they were the loving parents of four boys and one girl. They made their home in Bienville, LA until 1960 when they moved to Vidalia, LA. Ruby taught elementary school for 35 years in Louisiana and retired at the age of 65. She was preceded in death by her husband, Tate, in 1972 and her son, David, in 2011.
Ruby moved to Brandon, MS in 1985 and made her home near her children. She was the mother of Tate Poole, Jr. (Heide) of Starkville, David Poole (Sandy) of Brandon, Mike Poole (Teri) of Lafayette, LA, Bill Poole (Bette) of Madison, and Judy Fortenberry (Billy) of Brandon. She was the proud grandmother of 18 and the great-grandmother of 23.
The family extends special thanks and much gratitude to her caretakers, Brenda Hulin, Gayle Curtis, Debra Day and Ethel Kersh, whom she loved so much. We are so grateful that with their help, we were able to keep her at home with her family surrounding her.
The family will receive friends on June 25, 2011 at Ott & Lee Funeral Home, Hwy 80, Brandon, MS from 10:00 am until 12:00 noon. A memorial service will be held at 12 noon in the chapel following the visitation. Interment will be in Liberty Hill Cemetery in Bienville, LA at 2:30 pm on Sunday, June 26, 2011.
Officiates of the service are Dr. Gene Henderson and Bro. Roy Lively. Pallbearers are Shane Poole, Marc Poole, John David Poole, Jeff Poole, Brian Jackson and Jody Fortenberry.
