Ruby Frances Westerfield McCrory, age 100 years and 1 month, passed away on Thursday, April 23, 2015 at Scott Regional Hospital in Morton. Visitation was held 5-8pm Thursday, April 23, 2015 at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton and 8:30am-2pm Friday at the funeral home. Funeral services were held 2pm Friday, April 24, 2015 at Ott & Lee Chapel in Morton with burial in Hodge Hill Cemetery. Bro. John Vaughn officiated the services. Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton.
Ruby was born in Scott County on March 12, 1915. She loved working in her yard and in her garden. She enjoyed sitting on her porch and dipping her Garrett snuff. Ruby enjoyed riding and looking at the beauty of the lake at Roosevelt State Park. She loved her family very much and her grands, great grands and great -great grands held a special place in her heart. She will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew her.
Ruby is preceded in death by her husband, Tom McCrory, who passed away in 1978; parents, Fred and Katie McCrory Westerfield; children, Betty Opal Bailey and Eddie McCrory Sr.; grandchildren, Judy Eason and Vickie Bailey; great grandson, Cameron Purvis; sister, Lucille McCrory; brother, Richard Westerfield and sons-in-law, George R. Bradshaw and JC Bailey.
Ruby is survived by her daughter, Myrtis Bradshaw of Pelahatchie; 7 grandchildren, JoAnn Brown, (Bill), Ralph Bradshaw (Sheila), Shirley Lawrence (Ramey), Mike Bailey (Missy), Janette Yount (Ken),Tommy McCrory (Angie) and E.J. McCrory (Jada); 13 great grandchildren; 17 great-great grandchildren; 2 honorary daughters, Helen McGee and Peggy McCrory; several nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Pallbearers were Chris McCrory, Tommy McCrory, James Bailey, Justin Bailey, Dustin Lawrence and Ralph Bradshaw.
Memorials may be made in her name to the Epilepsy Foundation of Mississippi.
