Mrs. Ruby Inez Shoemaker Fleming age 90, passed away Friday, November 24, 2017 at the Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland, MS. Visitation service will be Saturday, November 25, 2017 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Morton and from 12:15 pm until 1:45 pm on Sunday, November 26, 2017 from the Allen Chapel Bible Church in Lena, MS. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday, November 26, 2017 from the Allen Chapel Bible Church in Lena, MS with Dr. Clarence Cooper presiding. The interment will be held at the Allen Chapel Bible Church Cemetery following the Service.
Mrs. Ruby Fleming was born in Rankin County to her parents, Berry and Mabel Shivers Shoemaker on February 7, 1927. Ruby was a member of the Allen Chapel Bible Church which she loved very much. She loved cooking and everyone loved her special lemon pie. The family shared that she made the best biscuits and chicken and dumplings around. She enjoyed cooking for others and helping anyone she could. She loved the outdoors, flowers and gardening and making sure her grass was cut. She loved watching her children and grandchildren playing sports and she loved her family very much.
Ruby is preceded in death by her parents, Berry and Mabel Shoemaker; two sisters, Launa Kyzar and Christine Davis; two brothers, J.T. Shoemaker and Ray Shoemaker; her husband, Guy Fleming.
She is survived by her children, Hilda (Randy) Salmon of Purvis, MS and Helen (Jimmy) Thrash of Pelahatchie, MS; her two grandchildren, Chandy (Chris) Lee, and Cheryl Thrash; her four great-grandchildren, John Elliott Jolley, Laura Alice Lee, Lydia Grace Lee, Lucy Kate Lee; and a host of family and friends.
Serving as pallbearers are Chris Lee, Michael Bilbro, Michael Noel, Joy Barnes, Matthew Barnes, and Hugh Fleming.
Services were entrusted to the care of Ott and Lee Funeral Home Morton.
