Ruby Mae Thompson Pruitt

Leesburg, MS

Ruby Pruitt, age 100, a resident of Leesburg passed away on Tuesday, February 26, 2019 at Scott Regional Hospital in Morton.  Visitation will be held 5pm-8pm Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton and 1pm-1:45pm Thursday, February 28, 2019 at Leesburg Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery.  Bro. Tal Vardaman and Bro. Jon Vanlandingham will officiate the services.  Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton.

Ruby was born in Rankin County on May 15, 1918.  When she was able, she loved serving the Lord anyway she could at Leesburg Baptist Church, from helping with Bible School, teaching Sunday School and even singing in the choir.  She was faithful with reading her Bible until her eye sight failed but that did not stop her, she then listened to her audio Bible.  Ruby loved gardening and she believed in her home remedies of garlic and vinegar and she told everybody that "for it to work you had to believe it would work."  Ruby always had a beautiful smile and a kind word for everyone she met.  At 100 years of age and a couple of months shy of 101, she would never be seen without her Garrett Snuff.  The joy she brought to her friends and family will never be forgotten.  She will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew her.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Johnny Richard Pruitt; parents, Cosmo Thompson and Hettie Fortenberry Thompson; 12 siblings, Odell Thompson, J.C. "Bud" Thompson, Ivory Bell, Vada Denson, Albert Thompson, J.B. Thompson, Lee Thompson, Claude Thompson, Clyde Thompson, Levie Franklin, Bill Joe Thompson and Eva Dee Irby; son George Willie Franklin; grandson, Donnie Franklin.

She is survived by 8 grandchildren, Richie Franklin, Randy Franklin, Tommy Franklin, J.B. Franklin, Jonathan Franklin, Lesley Porter, Sherry Wheeler and Allen Franklin; a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.

Pallbearers will be Billy Joe "Buddy" Thompson, Leon Franklin, Roger Thompson, James Thompson, Bobby Joe Franklin and Ken Ward.  Honorary pallbearers will be Paul Ray Thompson, Joe Dell Thompson, Billy Royce Thompson and J.B. Thompson.

Memorials may be made in her honor to Leesburg Baptist Church.
