Francis Nell “Sally” Porter Amason was born Wednesday, April 7, 1937 to her parents, Doyle and Alma Wilkerson Porter in Rankin County. She passed away Sunday, January 08, 2017 at the Bedford Care Center in Newton at the age of 79.

Mrs. Sally was retired from Sunbeam Corporation and also had previously worked at Sara Lee, Inc., and a local chicken hatchery. She enjoyed being involved in her community and was an excellent cook. Mrs. Amason loved her family very much and had a special relationship, with her beloved daughter, Tanya. She was a member of the Antioch Primitive Baptist Church.

Preceding Mrs. Amason in death are her husband: James Amason; her parents; and all of her siblings: Rudolph Shoemaker, Louise Ingram, Sammy Shoemaker, Volden Porter, Sunette Hall, and Dottie Faye Dunn.

She is survived by her only daughter: Tanya Amason of Morton; a special nephew and caregiver: David (Brandy) Hall of Morton; two sisters-inlaw: Trudie Bell Shoemaker and Shelvie Jean Shoemaker; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Forest assisted the family in making arrangements.Private family services will be held in the presence of the immediate family.
