Mr. Sammie Kennedy, age 79, a resident of Morton passed away Tuesday, December 21, 2010 at Scott Regional Hospital in Morton. Visitation was held 4-9pm Wednesday, December 22, 2010 at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton. Funeral Services were held 2pm Thursday, December 23, 2010 from the Ott & Lee Chapel in Morton with burial in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens. Rev. Glenn Curtis officiated the services. Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton.
Mr. Kennedy was born in Rankin County. He was a member of Eastside Baptist Church and loved helping people. Sammy loved playing his guitar and piano. He was a carpenter and loved to fish. He will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Anse McLaurin Kennedy and Lillie Bell Moore; brothers, Timon Kennedy and Clarence Kennedy and sisters, Dot Troha, Hattie Rea Earls, Ornell Hamm and Bessie Mae Taylor.
He is survived by his wife Bonnie Iris Kennedy of Morton; daughters, Rhonda Covey (Mike) of Brandon and Debra Renfroe of Pearl; 2 grandchildren, Chandal McGriff and Leslie Ann Kelly; 1 great grandchild, Ashley Carol McGriff and a host of friends.
Pallbearers were James “Winky” Kennedy, Thomas Earls, Gary Troha, Leon Walker, Chris Truitt and Joey White.
