Sammy Cecil “Sam” Arrington, 85, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 10, 20ll at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland, MS. Visitation is 4 – 7 pm Monday, November 14, 2011 at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS. Graveside Services are 10 am Tuesday, November 15, 2011 in Brandon Memorial Gardens in Brandon.
Mr. Arrington was born on February 21, 1926 in Poplarville, MS to the late Arthur Day and Bessie Juanita Peeler Arrington. He served in the U. S. Navy during World War II and was very proud of his military service. A member of the United Methodist Church, having been a member of the former West Park United Methodist Church for many years, where he served in various ways: Cub Scout Pack Master, Chairman of the Administrative Council, Sunday School Teacher, choir member and finance chairman. He retired from Sound and Communication and Capital Elevator where he served as their accountant.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Rebecca Earline Risher Arrington, his parents, his brothers, D. Bernard Arrington, Robert E. Arrington, William H. Arrington, and Ernest C. Arrington; and a sister, Bessie Arrington.
Survivors include his children, Sammy M. Arrington of Brandon, MS, Edward Arrington of Greensboro, NC, and Rebecca Massey of Gulfport, MS; a brother, Lawrence Arrington of Hattiesburg, MS; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
