Sammy Haywood Shoemaker, 82, a resident of Newton, formerly of Morton died Monday, November 8, 2010 at the Bedford Care Center in Newton, MS. Funeral services were held Tuesday, November 9, 2010 at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Morton with burial in the Harperville Memorial Park. Visitation was held 5-8 pm Monday at the funeral home. Reggie Tatum officiated the services. Funeral services were entrusted to Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Morton.
Mr. Shoemaker was a native of Scott Co. He was the son of Steve and Alma Bolden Shoemaker. He had lived in Morton most of his life and had worked for the B.C. Rogers Poultry Company for over 42 years and King Lumber Co. before retiring in 2003. He was a member of the East Morton Baptist Church in Morton. Mr. Shoemaker will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him.
Mr. Shoemaker was preceded in death by his parents, Steve and Alma Bolden Shoemaker and son, Ricky L. Shoemaker.
Mr. Shoemaker is survived by his son, William Glen “Billy” Shoemaker (Lorie) of Morton, MS; daughter-in-law, Barbara Shoemaker of Forest; sister, Frances Nell Amason of Newton, MS; 6 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and a host of friends.
