Samuel Earl Rogers, III, 75, a resident of Morton, MS died Saturday, August 2, 2014 at his home in Morton. Funeral services were held 10:00 am Thursday, August 7, 2014 at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Morton with burial in the Morton Memorial Gardens in Morton, MS. Visitation was held from 5-8 pm Wednesday at the funeral home. Rev. Marty Wilson officiated the services. Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Morton was in charge of the arrangements.


Mr. Rogers was a native of Lauderdale Co. He was the son of Samuel Earl Rogers, Jr. and Mildred Lee Philyaw Clearman. He was married to Peggy Jean Blissett Rogers. Mr. Rogers served as Administrator for Mattie Hersee Hospital in Meridian, MS. He was a retired United States Navy Officer serving 30 years in the Navy. He was a member of the Methodist Church, the Masonic Lodge and the Gideon’s. He will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him.


Mr. Rogers was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel Earl Rogers, Jr. and Mildred Lee Philyaw Clearman; wife, Peggy Jean Blissett Rogers; daughter, LaDonna Lynn Rogers King and great grandson, Trevor Nathan Goodin.


Mr. Rogers is survived by his daughter, LaNora Rogers (Jimmy) Moulds; sons, Samuel Troy Rogers and Kenneth Lee Rogers; sisters, Shiela Bunyard and Nancy Elizabeth Valentine; 9 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
