Sandra Robert of Morton departed this world on December 30, 2021, at the age of 72.

Born Sandra Kay Leach in Jackson, Mississippi, on April 9, 1949, she was a beloved miracle since birth as the only surviving child of Merle Slay and Harry Louis Leach. She graduated from Central High School in Jackson in 1967 and moved to Pearl in 1978 when she married her Husband of 38 years, Francis Mitchell Robert. Since 2017, Sandra has lived in Morton and been a member of New Liberty Baptist Churchwhere she found a special family of new friends and an outlet for her creative gifts and passion for service.  Sandra loved crocheting and sewing and harnessed these skills to create clothing and toys for children across the world through the Samaritan’s Purse Operation Christmas Child charity. Sandra loved to bake and cook, especially during the holidays, and she spent many hours during her final days baking Christmas treats for her friends and family. Sandra also loved to spend time at the beach, traveling, and gardening.

Sandra loved her friends and family more than anything else,and she touched the lives of countless people through her service in schools and in the church. She was a compassionate and supporting mother of three, grandmother of five, and great grandmother of five; devoted wife; caring friend; loving cousin;and beloved aunt to 23 nieces and nephews. She was also a maternal figure to many others throughout her life.

Sandra is survived by three children: Sheri Renee McCaughnand husband Jason, Michael Andrew Robert and husband Chris, and James Mitchell Robert and wife Trudy; five grandchildren: Jase, Rylie, Timothy, Joshua, and Kimberly; and five great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her best friend and sister of 57 years, Barbara Harrison Sanders, sister-in-law Ernestine Hymel Kappel and husband John, and her dog, Daisy.

She is predeceased by her husband and her parents.

Visitation will be Monday January 3, 5-7 p.m. and Tuesday January 4, 11:00-12:45. Services will be held Tuesday at 1:00 p.m.  Visitation and services will be held at New Liberty Baptist Church (191 Measels Rd, Morton, MS 39117).

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to the New Liberty Baptist Church Operation Christmas Child Committee (191 Measels Rd, Morton, MS 39117).
