Sandra Sue Strebeck Wallace, 68, passed away Monday, August 3, 2015 at her residence. Visitation is 5-8 pm Thursday at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Brandon and 10 am Friday at Brandon Baptist Church. Services are 11 am Friday at Brandon Baptist Church with burial in Brandon Memorial Gardens.
Sandra was a native of Newton County and a resident of Monticello since 1995. She had also earlier lived in Rankin County for many years. Sandra was a member of New Hope Baptist Church and retired from the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department as an Office Deputy in 2014. Sandra was a Christian who loved the Lord and loved others deeply as evidenced by her strong convictions. Her work ethic was unparalleled in every aspect of her life. Her approach was to always do the right thing, the right way and her life’s work and purpose was truly to serve others. Sandra loved her husband dearly and cared for her children mightily, fostering an independence in her family to love well and be thankful. Her delight were her grandchildren who made her especially joyful. Sandra invested deeply in those around her to help others understand their own strength and abilities. She knew how to tell it like it is, to share a good laugh, and to keep this world in its proper perspective. Her family will carry on her legacy to love well and love deeply.
Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Willie Wallace of Brandon; daughter, Stephanie Wallace Walton (Jay) of Nashville; son, Steven Wallace (Charity) of Brandon; brother, Jackie Strebeck (Julia) of Hickory; grandchildren, Willie Walton, Ruby Walton, Cristina De La Rosa, Reagan Wallace and Wilkes Wallace. Sandra is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews.
