In Loving Memory of Sandy Brown
Sandy Brown, a beloved resident of Morton, Mississippi, entered into God's kingdom on December 16,
2023, at the age of 65. Born on December 24, 1957, to JB and Bennet Brown, Sandy's life was marked by
service, laughter, and unwavering devotion to his family and community.
Sandy served his country with pride as a member of the Army National Guard for 11 ½ years where he
met numerous life-long friends such as John Paul Wallace and Richard Gregory. His time in the Guard
became a source of countless stories and memories that he would share with friends and family,
bringing joy and laughter to all who were fortunate enough to hear them. Next, he worked at Sara Lee
for 10 years, then at Exide for 10 years, and finally at American National Molding for 15 years where he
ultimately became a manager. Sandy had an incredible work ethic and would talk fondly about his
experiences.
A devoted husband for 35 years and a loving father to his daughter, Sandy's greatest joy was found in his
family. He often expressed that his greatest accomplishment was his grandchildren, who brought
immeasurable joy to his life, and he cherished the special moments spent with them.
Sandy was known for his kindness, dependability, humor, and patience. He had a generous spirit, always
ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Sandy was the cornerstone of his family, readily
undertaking tasks from feeding cows, chickens, and goats to mowing the lawn, helping with various
building projects, and even beekeeping! He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and
gardening with his wife.
Sandy's faith played a central role in his life, and he actively participated in his Sunday school class and
Wednesday coffee talk group at church. His warm spirit and thoughtfulness were evident as he often
brought treats for his fellow congregants and contributed his time to church events, such as cooking for
fish fry’s, boiling peanuts for the harvest festival, cooking and serving food at the community Family Fest,
and chaperoning youth activities.
Sandy is survived by his loving wife, Jane Brown; devoted daughter, Melissa Prestage (Alan); four
cherished grandchildren, Presley Cannon-Stewart (Michael), Lisa-Marie Cannon, Isaac Cannon (Makayla),
and John Avery Prestage; a sister, Wanda Crapps (Allen); and a brother, Billy Joe Brown (Clair). His loyal
companions, Rufus the dog, and "BB" the kitten, will also miss his presence dearly.
Sandy's absence will be deeply felt by his family and all who knew him. His legacy of love, laughter, and
selfless service will forever be etched in the hearts of those who were privileged to share in his life. May
he rest in eternal peace, and may his family find comfort in the cherished memories they shared with
him.
A memorial service to celebrate Sandy's life will be held on December 20, 2023, at North Morton Baptist
Church in Morton, Mississippi. Visitation with the family will be from 2:00pm-4:00pm and the memorial
service will begin at 4:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Men’s Ministry of North Morton
Baptist Church in Sandy's honor. Sandy, who recently completed a meaningful building project with the
ministry, had expressed a strong desire to participate in more community projects in the future.
Contributions made in his honor will support the realization of these projects that he had hoped to be a
part of, carrying on Sandy's spirit of generosity and commitment to community service.
Donations in memory of Sandy Brown can be made payable to North Morton Baptist Church, with "Men's Ministry In honor of Sandy Brown" specified in the Memo line. Alternatively, contributions can be sent conveniently through various apps (listed below) for those who prefer electronic transactions.
