On January 13, 2022, Sara Emily Nelson Bennett passed away unexpectedly at her home in Jackson, Mississippi. Sara was born on December 18, 1980, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Neal Nelson and Marybeth Nelson Curran. She moved to Mississippi with her family at a young age and lived her life in Jackson.  Sara attended St. Richards School and graduated from Northwest Rankin High School, before heading to Ole Miss and beginning her lifelong love of the Rebels. Sara will be remembered most for her fierce loyalty and adoration of her family.  She was a lifelong protector of her brother, Ryan, and later her baby sister, Erin.  Her infectious smile could light up a room and was contagious to those around her.  Sara loved animals and always made sure her “fur siblings” received special attention. Sara is predeceased by her father, Neal Nelson, and her grandparents, including her beloved grandfather, Robert “Bob” Wanasek. She is survived by her husband Casey Bennett, her mother, Marybeth Curran, and stepfather, Thomas Curran, of Peachtree City, GA, her devoted brother, Ryan R. Nelson (Kristin), nephew Jack Nelson & nieces Annabelle & Elizabeth Nelson, of Houston, TX, her sister Erin Curran Thomas, (Sam) of Flowood, MS and her brother Neil Nelson (Merissa) of Warrenville, South Carolina.  She is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles & cousins. A private Memorial Service will be held at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to a charity of your choice.
