Mrs. Sarah Mae Edwards, age 96, a resident of Conehatta, passed away on January 5, 2011 at home surrounded by her loving family.
Funeral services will be held Friday, January 7, 2011 from the Sulphur Springs Baptist Church, with interment in the Sulphur Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Heath Johnson and Charles Edwards, II officiated the services. Visitation will be held from 5pm to 8pm Thursday January 6, 2011 at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Forest.
She was a compassionate teacher, wonderful housewife, a loving mother who enjoyed being on the family farm. Mrs. Edwards, a lifelong resident of this area was a member of the Sulphur Springs Baptist Church where she was a Sunday School Teacher for over 70 years. In her younger years, WMU president, church pianist, and Vacation Bible School leader. She was a member of the Sebastopol Homemakers Club for many years. Mrs. Edwards will certainly be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Mrs. Edwards was preceded in death by her parents Samuel Maurice McDill and Martha Anderson McDill, and her husband Albert Dallas Edwards. Also preceding her in death were two sisters, Aleene McDill Bullard, Christine McDill Laughlin and one brother, James McDill.
She is survived by one son, Charles Mac Edwards and wife Linda of Conehatta, Ms., three daughters, Dorothy E. Watts of Brandon, Ms, Sarah E. Shain of Olive Branch, Ms., and Elizabeth E. Sadler of Hattiesburg, Ms., and one sister Jean Baugh of Marietta, Ga.
Mrs. Edwards also leaves a legacy of 11 grandchildren, Greg Watts (Cathy), Stan Watts, Mike Watts (Kim), Charles Edwards, II., Andy Edwards, Jonathan Edwards, Lee Comans (Kim), Candace Ward (Keith), Nicole Sadler, Deidre Sadler Johnson (Michael).
Betsy Mylinda Edwards preceded her in death. Mrs Edwards legacy includes 12 great grandchildren, Lauren Watts, Dakota Watts, Isaiah Edwards, Jordan Watts, Jacob Watts, Brittany Wilson, Hayden Comans, Sarah Whitman, David Whitman, Ginger Kelley, Graham Johnson, Pearson Johnson, and one great-great grandson, Blake Roberts.
Pallbearers were Greg Watts, Stan Watts, Mike Watts, Charles Edwards, Andy Edwards, Lee Comans and Jonathan Edwards.
Ott & Lee Funeral Home of Forest was in charge of arrangements.
