Sarah Elizabeth Waggoner, age 93, a lifelong resident of Forest, died Tuesday, December 24, 2024, surrounded by her loved ones following an extended illness.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11am Saturday, December 28, 2024, from the chapel of the OTT & LEE Funeral Home in Forest with Bro. Daniel Smith and Bro. Gary Morris officiating. Visitation will be held from 9am till 10:45am. Interment will follow the service in the Clifton Baptist Cemetery.
Sarah Elizabeth Squires Waggoner was born on May 18, 1931, in Scott County to her parents, Emma Lee Stewart Squires and James Bryant Squires. She was married to Marvin Cecil Waggoner for 52 years until he passed away. She was employed by S.E. Lackey Memorial Hospital for over 30 years. She loved people, her family, and visiting friends. During her spare time, she enjoyed cooking, gardening, tending her beautiful flowers, and going fishing. She loved the outdoors. Her time with her family was very special to her. She was a devout Christian lady, and perhaps, Proverbs 31 best describes her character. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and son, Larry Gene Waggoner, siblings; James Squires, Earl Squires, Bryant A. Squires, Phillip Dean Squires, Russell Nelson Squires, Ruby Mae Barfield, and Dennis Leon Squires, who affectionately called her “Sis.” Mrs. Waggoner was especially close to her neighbors Lois McDonald, Roma Crawford, and Tinnie Faulkner who also preceded her in death.
Survivors include her daughter, Jeralyn Perkins of Forest, daughter-in-law Denise Waggoner of Channelview, TX., two grandchildren; Michael Ray Perkins (Amy) of Pearl, Michelle Perkins Rushing (Chris) of Sebastopol, four great-grandchildren; Christopher Trey Rushing (Carly) of Union, Emalee Thrash (Connor) of Sebastopol, Amber Nicole Perkins, and Bailee Elizabeth Perkins, both of Pearl, two great-great grandchildren; Rhealeigh Rose Rushing, Rowdy Jett Rushing, and Baby Thrash is on the way. She also has a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Pallbearers are Trey Rushing, Connor Thrash, Alan Graham, Jonathan Sigrest, Johnny Bell, and Teddy Derrick. Honorary pallbearers are Tony Barfield, Devin Hall, Billy Ray Sigrest, and Mike Crawford.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Clifton Baptist Church Cemetery Fund 5034 Clifton Hillsboro Rd. Forest, MS 39074
