Sarah And Sidney Holmes

Mrs. Sarah F. Holmes was born in Neshoba County to her parents, Erbin Adolphus Parker and Ada Almeta Drewby Parker on May 10, 1933. She passed away at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson on Sunday, June 23, 2019 at the age of 86, with her loving husband at her side, along with several of her nieces and nephews.

Mr. Sidney Holmes was born in Rankin County to his parents Pat Holmes and Ollie Donald Holmes on February 13, 1929. He passed away at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson on Sunday, June 23, 2019 at the age of 90, shortly after the passing of his beloved wife.

Mr. and Mrs. Holmes were married June 29, 1949, and passed away, six days prior to their 70th wedding anniversary. She enjoyed doing crafts, canning and gardening as long as her health permitted and he too, enjoyed gardening, farming, and tending to his dogs. But, one of his greatest joys was driving Mrs. Sarah to town to get ice cream. They were faithful members of Eureka Baptist Church.

Their parents precede them in death, as well as her two nephews: Leroy McCullough and Sterlon McCullough.

Mr. & Mrs. Holmes are survived by several nieces and nephews: Patricia Vinson of Yazoo City; Patsy Long of Belzoni; Charles (Mary) McCullough of Clinton; Joe (Kay) McCullough of Branch; Jeanie (O'Neil) Moss of Lena; Billy Conn of Ridgeland and Bernadette Johnson of North Carolina; Billy Holmes and Emmitt Holmes, Jr.; her only brother: Aaron (Sylvia) Parker of California; and a host of other family and friends.

Visitation will be 9:30 to 10:50 am Wednesday at Eureka Baptist Church, with Funeral Services following at 11:00 am.
