Sarah E. Wade

Sarah Ellen McCann Wade, 78, of Lake, went to be with the Lord on December 25, 2015 after an extended illness.


Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at 2:30 P.M. from the Ott & Lee Chapel with interment in the Springfield Baptist Cemetery at Morton, under the direction of Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Forest.


Visitation will be on Monday, December 28, 2015 from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. and on Tuesday from 1:00 P.M. until 2:15 P.M. at the funeral home.


Sarah Wade was born on June 4, 1937, and was married 61 years to her beloved husband, James Leon Wade. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Lake; for many years taught Sunday School there and previously Sand Ridge Baptist Church, Lake; and was also active in the women’s ministry at both churches. She worked for many years at Sunbeam in Forest, Peavey in Morton, and as a substitute for the Lake Public Schools. She loved to minister to her neighbors in any way she could, and was a faithful prayer warrior.


She was preceded in death by her parents, Ed and Lena McCann, and two children, Sarah Frances Wade and Betty June Wade.


She is survived by her husband: James Leon Wade; a son: James Ronnie Wade of Gulfport; two daughters: Brenda Wade (Nick) Revette of Lake; and Mary Wade (Bob) Rogers of Hattiesburg; two brothers: Walter Lee (Edna) McCann of Picayune and L.D. (Katie) McCann of Lake; seven grandchildren: Rev. Kevin (Jessica) Wade, Jonathan (Kristen) Wade, Brian Revette, Mandy Revette Monk, Melissa Rogers (Steven) Dalton, Lauren Rogers (Phillip) Knight, and Wade Rogers; twelve great-grandchildren and numerous other family members.


In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering for International Missions through First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 157, Lake, MS 39092, or to the church’s building fund.
