Saralyn Lackey Gaylor, 68, passed away Monday, August 2, 2010 at Miss. Baptist Medical Center in Jackson. Visitation is 1 pm Thursday, August 5, 2010 at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Brandon followed by services at 2 pm. Interment will be in Eastern Cemetery in Forest.
Mrs. Gaylor was a native of Waynesboro, former resident of Forest and a longtime resident of the Jackson area. She was a member of Parkway Hills United Methodist Church in Madison. Mrs. Gaylor was a longtime educator, having begun her career on the Miss. Gulf Coast. She also taught at Scott County Christian Academy, East Rankin Academy and was currently teaching at New Summit School in Jackson. Mrs. Gaylor was a member of the DAR, and was an avid bridge player where she had earned the designation of Life Master. Her other hobbies included painting and caring for her beloved dog.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Richard S. Lackey and Robert E. Gaylor; parents, James Ward Dickerson and Dora Dickerson and brother, Fred Dickerson.
Survivors include her daughter, Dr. Ellen Lackey of Oxford; brother, James Glen Dickerson and wife Mary Palmer of Waynesboro.
