VISITATION: 4:30 UNTIL 8 PM TUESDAY
Shannon Russell Townsend, 88, passed away Sunday, March 20, 2016 at the V. A. Medical Center in Jackson. Visitation is 4:30-8 pm Tuesday, March 22, 2016 at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Forest. Services are 10 am Wednesday at the funeral home with burial in Harperville Memorial Park.
Mr. Townsend was a native and lifelong resident of the Harperville Community. He was a member of Harperville Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and former Sunday School Director for 26 years. Mr. Townsend was a World War II Army Veteran and was a Cattleman in the Harperville Community all his life. He was a former member of the Mississippi and Scott County Cattlemen’s Association.
Survivors include his wife, Jean Stubbs Townsend of Harperville; daughter, Terri Townsend Warren (Sam) of Harperville; sister, Martha Ellen Marler of Carthage; grandchildren, Brandy Lovett (Sammy) of Morton, Courtney Townsend of Harperville, Joanna Johnston of Harperville, Shannon and Danny Warren of Harperville; great grandchildren, Mackenzie and Malorie Lovett. Mr. Townsend was preceded in death by his sons, Danny Townsend in 1974 and Sammy Townsend in 1994.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to the Harperville Baptist Church Mission Fund, P. O. Box 35, Harperville, MS 39080.
