Sharon M. Hoffman

Sharon Myers Hoffman, 70, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 14, 2019, at her home in Brandon, MS.  There will be a gathering of friends and family at 10:00am Thursday, October 17, 2019, at Ott & Lee  Funeral Home in Brandon, MS, with a memorial service following at 11:00am in the chapel.

Life

Sharon was born October 31, 1948 in Nashville Tennessee, a daughter of the late Walter and Mary Myers.  She is survived by her husband, James W. Hoffman, her sons Andy Hoffman and Brian Hoffman, her daughter-in-law, Pauline Ma Hoffman, her five kitties (Blue, Rosie Grace, Mamma Bug, Lambert, Panda) and her dog, Teddy.

Labors of Love

Sharon took great pride in her work with her students at North East Elementary School and Brandon Elementary School and on behalf of veterans at the Veterans Affairs Hospital.  In retirement she devoted her time to serving her community with The Brandon Garden Club and as a founding member of Rankin County Animal Adoption Foundation.

Legacy

Sharon will be remembered by those who knew her best for her warmth, love of animals, and fierce loyalty to those in her life. When a friend was in need, Sharon was first on the scene with a kind word of support, a big hug, and her gentle presence. A proud and self-proclaimed “crazy cat lady,” her family estimates that over the course of her life, Sharon rescued hundreds of cats, feeding them, relocating them, finding them homes, and when all else failed, adopting them herself (much to Jim’s chagrin).  Finally, Sharon’s spirit, love, and warmth is possibly best exemplified by her relentless loyalty to her family, friends, and animals.  Her uncanny ability to transform from a sweet, gentle soul to a fierce purple-clad mamma bear must have been truly terrifying to anyone unfortunate enough to harm or mildly disrupt the well-being of her loved ones.

Remembrance

In Lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor Sharon’s memory are kindly requested to provide a donation to Rankin County Animal Adoption Foundation  (https://facebook.com/rcaaf/ ) or The Brandon Garden Club. (The Brandon Garden Club)
