Sharon Elaine Little Waldrop, 78, much loved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away, surrounded by her loving family, on Wednesday, August 21, 2024 at The Madison Nursing and Rehab Center in Madison, MS. Funeral services will be held Sunday, August 25, 2024 at North Brandon Church of Christ at 12:30 p.m. with visitation at the church beginning at 12 p.m. Interment will follow in Glenwood Cemetery in Yazoo City.
Sharon was born on June 13, 1946 to Connie E. and Inez Warren Little in Yazoo City, MS. She graduated from Yazoo City High School in 1964 and attended The University of Southern Mississippi for two years. She married Charles (Charlie) Waldrop on February 27, 1966 and had two children, Karen and Marc. She and Charlie shared 58 devoted and happy years of marriage before his death on August 9, 2024.
Sharon worked for many years as a Librarian at Belvedere Church of Christ and a Secretary at the Belvedere and Siwell Rd. Churches of Christ. She also worked in accounts payable at Snyder Communications for several years. She also got a lot of joy out of being a very caring and dedicated homemaker as well as a selfless caregiver for her husband, Charlie, when his health started failing during the last few years of their lives.
Sharon enjoyed cooking for her family, including lots of dessert treats like cherry cream cheese pie (Charlie’s favorite), chocolate pie (Zach Wallace’s favorite), pretzel/Hershey’s kiss treats (Kendall Burton’s favorite), brown-eyed Susan cookies, lemon bars, and many others. Oh, and we can’t forget her world famous rolls. She enjoyed sewing, reading, and cross stitching (she proudly made cross stitch birth announcements for all her grandchildren and great grandchildren). She was also a big Atlanta Braves baseball and Southern Miss football fan and loved to watch both on tv and cheer them on.
Sharon was a faithful and devoted Christian, worshipping and serving in multiple Church of Christ congregations throughout her life. She was a faithful elder’s wife, deacon’s wife, church librarian, church secretary, and bible class teacher for many years. She also used her talents to prepare fellowship meals, help with VBS, create bulletin boards, and contribute to other art and service projects, including making neck pillows for cancer patients. Sharon most recently worshipped at North Brandon Church of Christ in Brandon, MS. She modeled Christ in her daily life and raised her children to love God. She, along with Charlie, is directly or indirectly responsible for leading many souls to Christ, including her own children and grandchildren. She often spoke of how important it was to her that all her children, grandchildren, and their spouses were faithful Christians.
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, Connie E. and Inez W. Little; her husband, Charles E. Waldrop; and her sister, Linda Fennell.
She is survived by her daughter, Karen Wallace (Chris) of Carthage, MS; son, Marc Waldrop (Kelli) of Kennesaw, GA; Brother in law, Bert Fennell of Yazoo City, MS; grandchildren, Zach Wallace (Ashlee) of Oxford, MS, Madi McFarland (Josh) of Madison, MS, Kendall Burton (Zakk) of Kennesaw, GA, and Grayson Wallace of Carthage, MS; great grandchildren, Cooper Wallace of Oxford, MS and Graham McFarland of Madison, MS.
