Sheila (A Precious Soul)
The first to smile, the first to laugh any time that she walked in.
No matter your past or who you were, the first to call you friend.
Many things to many people all throughout her life
But the titles that meant the most to her were Mom, Mawmaw, and wife.
Always there to lend a hand if ever you were in need
A hug, a smile, a comforting word, a precious soul indeed.
A day on the water or in a deer stand or riding on a mower,
The finer things didn’t impress her much, the simple things meant more.
Even in her final days, as her health started to decline,
She was still calling and checking, making sure others were fine.
Until that Monday morning, when she opened up her eyes,
Not to see machines and doctors, but angels coming through the skies.
No more struggling to breathe in a body tired and sore,
But dancing down a street of gold, with peace forevermore.
We’re still here with a hole in our hearts that no one else can fill,
A pain that only God knows that only He can mend and heal.
We may not have her with us here to touch or hug or hold,
But there is day we’ll meet again and that’ll be on streets of gold.
When days ahead are dark and grey and grief won’t seem to end,
Just remember the precious memories until we meet again!
