Shelby Griffin

Mrs. Shelby Jean Griffin, age 81, and a longtime resident of Rankin County, passed away on Thursday, September 13, 2018 at the Select Specialty Hospital in Jackson.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Saturday, September 15, 2018 from the Line Creek Baptist Church with Bro. Tal Vardaman and Bro. Donnie Stuart officiating. Interment will follow in the Line Creek Baptist Cemetery under the direction of Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton.

Visitation will be from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm on Friday, September 14, 2018 and from 10:00 am - 1:15 pm Saturday at the funeral home prior to the funeral service.

Mrs. Griffin enjoyed the company of her family, in particular taking care of her grandchildren. Favorite past times were fishing and watching soap operas. She was  a former employee of Stanwood  Clothing in Pelahatche and was a member of Line Creek Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Coyt Eugene Griffin and her parents: Calvin Frank and Lula Ann Wade Massey.

Survivors include four children: Tommy Eugene (Mary) Griffin, Jo Ann (Donel) Banes, and Dorothy Jean (William) Fortenberry, all of Morton; and Billy R. (Tanya) Griffin of Pelahatchie; eight grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Pallbearers are Gary Massey, B.J. Wallace, Bradley Wallace, Noah Traxler, Dillon Sumrall, and John Jackson.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Matt Warren, Marshall Lewis, Jacob Walters, Caleb Walters, and Micah Walters.
