Shirley Ann Craven Kendrick, 78, passed away Sat. May 13, 2017 in Jackson, MS. Funeral services will be held at 11 am Thursday, May 18, 2017 at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS. Visitation will be held from 4-7 pm Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at the funeral home.

Shirley was born Feb. 16, 1939 in Bogue Chitto, MS to Freddie Bryan and Hazel Montgomery Craven. She grew up in Bogue Chitto, attended Bogue Chitto High School, Belhaven College, Co-Lin Jr. College, and Mississippi State University. While in college she met and married the love of her life, James C. Kendrick of Hazlehurst, MS. Shirley and Jimmy were married for 54 years until his death in 2012.

Shirley began her career in banking in Laurel, MS, worked in credit and collection for several companies, and was secretary for Prosecutor Training for the state Attorney General’s Office. Above all Shirley was a “people person” who never met a stranger and always had time to listen to your concerns. She was kind, caring, and loyal to her family and friends and will be deeply missed by all. She was a cancer survivor of 18 years. She will be missed by all who loved and knew her.

Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, James C. Kendrick.

Shirley is survived by her two sons, Jim Kendrick (Gail) of Fallbrook, CA and Bryan Kendrick (Rebecca) of Ridgeland, MS and five grandchildren, Erin and Rachel of Fallbrook, CA and Robert, Hunter, and Nicole of Ridgeland, MS.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, MS Division Inc. at 1380 Livingston Lane Jackson, MS 39213
