Sid Holcombe
Brandon
Sidney Lynn Holcombe Jr. of Brandon, Mississippi, went to be with his Lord Wednesday, January 18, 2012, after a strong fight against liver cancer.
Born in Jackson, Mississippi, July 5, 1954, to Sidney and Mildred Holcombe, Sid was raised in Byram, Mississippi. He was a loving husband to Pauline King Holcombe for thirty-five years. They shared a wonderful life and love; they were a match made in heaven. He provided a great life for his family by being a furniture representative for twenty-five years.
His greatest joy in life was his wife and children. His happiest times were spent loving and caring for his family. The joy in his heart was contagious. Everyone that knew him, knew his beautiful infectious laugh. He was larger than life itself. To know Sid was to know happiness; he lived life to the fullest. Sid was a strong man of faith that loved the Lord with all of his heart. He truly praised God until his very last breath.
His favorite past time was fishing in the gulf for red fish with his son and friends, while he entertained them with funny stories and jokes. He loved going to Starkville to cheer the Dawgs on to victory. He enjoyed hunting and the solitude of the woods that gave him time to pray and praise the Lord.
Sidney is survived by his devoted wife, Pauline, their daughter, Heather Penn (Michael Penn) and their son, Regan Holcombe; grand-daughter, Azlyn Penn; sister, Renee Gill; brother, Hal Holcombe and father Sidney Holcombe Sr.
Family and friends are invited to the visitation which will be held Thursday, January 19, 2012 at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Brandon from 5p.m. until 8p.m. The funeral service, a celebration of his life, will be held Friday, January 20, 2012, 11:00 a.m. at Crossgates Baptist Church.
