Stella Morgan

Funeral services for Mrs. Stella Mae Morgan will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 24, 2018, at the Ott and Lee Funeral Home Chapel, Forest, Mississippi, with the Rev. Victor Bugg officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service, starting at 1:30 p.m. in the Ott and Lee Chapel.  Interment will follow in the Pine Ridge Cemetery at Lawrence, Mississippi.

Stella Mae Morgan was born in Newton County on November 11, 1929, to Stella Josephine (Carson) Nelson and William Otis Nelson and died on February 22, 2018,  at the age of 88.

She actively participated in and enjoyed all aspects of the family farming and dairy business.  She enjoyed reading and keeping up with current events and dedicated considerable time and effort to her studies of the Bible.  She liked listening to a variety of musical genres, particularly inspirational hymns.  Her family was paramount in her life and she was especially happy in the presence of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She was always enthusiastic about cooking and eagerly welcomed  people to her dining table.  She particularly enjoyed working in her yard and flower gardens.  She loved sitting on the porch listening to the singing of the birds.  She was fascinated by her hummingbirds and was protective of the nature and wildlife around her.

She is preceded in death by husband, Cris Jack Morgan, Sr.,  parents Otis William Nelson and Stella Josephine (Carson) Nelson and by two brothers Leonard and Etheridge Nelson, by two sisters, Marie (Nelson) Easterday and Sarah (Nelson) Little, and by one grandchild, Jennifer Hannah Williamson.

Survivors include one sister, Janice (Nelson) Stamper of Beech Island, South Carolina.  She is survived by five children:  Alice Marie Morgan  Williamson (Larry) of Purvis, Mississippi; Cris J. Morgan, Jr., of Alexandria, Virginia; Margie Mae Morgan Pugh of Newton, Mississippi; Paul Alan Morgan (Young) of Collinsville, Mississippi; and, Roger David Morgan of Jackson, Mississippi.  She is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Glenn Logan, Gale Nelson, Benjie Nelson, Daniel Zellner, Luther Wheeless, and Kevin Williamson.
