Stella Mae Waggoner, age 94, a lifelong resident of Morton passed away on June 1, 2018 at the Mississippi Care Center of Morton. Visitation will be held 5 p.m. - 7 p.m. June 3, 2018 at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton and again on June 4, 2018 from 9 a.m. -10:45 a.m. at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton. Funeral service will be held on Monday, June 4, 2018 at Ott & Lee Chapel in Morton with burial in Clifton Baptist Church Cemetery. Officiating will be Rev. Earl Clark, Rev. Alvin Doyle & Rev. Marty Wilson. Arrangements were entrusted to Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton.
Stella Mae Waggoner was born July 3, 1923, in Forkville, MS, to Wiley Melton Turner and Alma Dena Jones Turner. She was fourth of eleven children. She grew up and attended school in Forkville, MS and married Carl Monroe Waggoner 07-14-1939. She was a devout Christian of Baptist faith and a faithful member of Morton First Baptist Church. She loved the Lord and loved going to church. When she could no longer attend church due to declining health, she continued to faithfully serve the Lord through her Sunday School Class Outreach Card Ministry. She loved gardening, working in her flowers and being outside. Stella Mae worked at Scott Regional Hospital for many years where she loved and thoroughly enjoyed her work until her retirement. She also loved her family and spending time with them brought great joy to her life. She will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Wiley M. Turner and Alma Dena Turner; spouse, Carl Monroe Waggoner; grandson, Michael H. Thompson; three sisters, Annie Ruth Turner Lowe, Irene Turner Patterson, Stella Lou Turner Waldrop; seven brothers; W.M. Turner, Ernest Melton Turner, Wyte Meadow Turner, General Melton Turner, Willie Joyce Turner, John Marshall Turner and Howard Evander Turner.
She is survived by one son, Bobby Waggoner (Brenda) of Brandon; two daughters, Virginia Thompson (Herman) of Morton and Laverne Thompson McMahon (Jerry) of Morton; seven grandchildren; Kim Waggoner Saggus (Paul) of Brandon, Kyle Waggoner (Paige) of Brandon, Kerry Waggoner (Angie) of Greenville, AL, Kristi Thompson Chambley (Brian) of Brandon, Brent Thompson (Sonya) of Petal, Kevin McMahon of Biloxi, Jerry McMahon of Gulfport; twelve great grandchildren; Molly Saggus Anderson (Brady), Clay Saggus, Dru Waggoner, Stephen Waggoner, Adam Wolverton, Kelsie Chambley, Kinsley Chambley, Lex Anna Thompson, Landry Thompson, Carter McMahon, Owen McMahon, Michael McMahon; one great great grandchild, William Sutton Anderson.
Pallbearers will be Mark Torrence, Randy Gainey, Randy Sumerall, Sonny Evans, David Hollingsworth and Chris Phillips. Honorary Pallbearers will be, Brent Thompson, Kyle Waggoner, Kerry Waggoner, Paul Saggus, Brian Chambley, Kevin McMahon, Chipper McMahon, Brady Anderson, Stephen Waggoner, Adam Wolverton and Clay Saggus.
We would like to express our sincere appreciation to the staff of MS Care Center for their compassionate loving care provided to our Mother during her stay there the past five plus years.
Memorials may be made in her honor to Morton First Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 110, Morton, MS 39117.
