Brandon

Steven Charles (Steve) Borota, age 77, peacefully gained his Heavenly Wings in Brandon, MS on July 22, 2019 after a lengthy illness. Due to scheduling challenges, Steve’s “Celebration of Life” service will be scheduled in the near future.

Mr. Borota was born October 5, 1941 in Kewanee, IL to Steve and Evelyn Borota.  He joined the United States Navy in 1960 where he served aboard the submarine, The USS Dog Fish.  Steve married the love of his life, Gale Souder Borota on July 3rd, 1964.

During Steve and Gale’s life, they lived in Iowa and Illinois before moving to Cleveland, MS, where Steve opened the first Edward Jones Investment office in the state of Mississippi in 1978.  Steve joked just recently that he was considering transferring his citizenship to the state of Mississippi given he had flown the Mississippi state flag for 41 years.

After Edward Jones, Steve retired and relocated to Brandon, MS in 2008 to be close to his two lovely daughters, Stephanie Borota Sinclair and Kim Borota Nutt until his passing.

Steve is survived by his wife of 55years, Gale Souder Borota; daughters, Stephanie Borota Sinclair (Chuck), Kimberly Borota Nutt (Tim); grandchildren, Madison Vanlandingham (Kate), Steven Vanlandingham, Bailey Vanlandingham, Gage Vanlandingham, Sidney Sinclair, Parker Sinclair, Hunter Sinclair (Katie), Carrie-Leigh Sinclair; and eight great grandchildren; brothers, John Borota (Kay) and Tim Borota (Kathy).

Totally devoted to Gale and his two daughters, Steve took great pride in traveling the country and yes, other parts of the World on many interesting adventures.  Steve was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing new and challenging courses abroad.  After retirement, Steve  turned his focus to spending all available time with his ever growing family.

Known for his quick wit, love of the newest gadgets and woodworking, young and old, all who took the time to get to know him, loved him.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Cancer Society.
