Stoney Gerson Ainsworth, 75, died peacefully at Montfort Jones Hospital in Kosciusko, MS on Tuesday evening, December 20, 2011. Visitation will be from 4 –7 pm Thursday, December 22, 2011 at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Richland, MS. and 1 pm Friday, December 23, 2011 at First Baptist Church of Florence, MS. Funeral Services will be Friday at 2 pm at First Baptist Church in Florence with burial to follow in the Florence Cemetery.
Stoney was born April 21, 1935 in Taylorsville, MS and raised in Standard, IL. He served in the U. S. Air Force from 1954 - 1958 in Japan. He was a resident of Florence and a member of First Baptist Church of Florence, MS. He worked for Vickers for three years, then continued his career for the U.S. Postal Service where he retired in 1996. Stoney enjoyed working in his yard and visiting with his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Sloney Ainsworth and his mother, Minnie Merlie; two sisters, Jacquelyn Gapinski and Jean Wroten.
Survivors include his wife, Helen Ainsworth of Florence, MS; his son, Tony Ainsworth & wife, Elizabeth and grandsons, John and Will all of Marietta, GA; and grandson Reed Ainsworth and two adopted grandchildren, Brock and Leeann Pittman all of Pascagoula, MS.
