Sudie graduated from Provine High School and attended Hinds Community College and was an enthusiastic, “gracious” Lady who loved people and never met a stranger. She genuinely cared, and always took the time to engage them in conversation. Sudie was an avid reader and especially took pleasure in reading books about Heaven. First and foremost, she loved the Lord! Sudie was a member of Park Place Baptist Church and taught Sunday School for many years. She enjoyed cooking, playing dominoes and working in her garden. One of the greatest joys in her life was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Sudie retired from Ford Motor Credit and later worked at Community Bank in Pearl until her illness.

Survivors include her husband, Thomas King of Brandon; daughters, Shelley Townsend (Will) of Brandon and Heather Pope of Pearl; son, Jamie Downs of Brandon; sister, Nancy Adams of Tupelo; brothers, David Spain of Collierville, TN, John Spain of Portland, Oregon and Chuck Spain of Alamogordo, New Mexico; grandchildren, Ian Downs, Alex Downs, Baileigh Townsend, MacKenzie Downs, Benton Townsend, Landon Downs, Sadie Pope and Emma Pope.

Sudie was preceded in death by her parents, Fred J. Martha Carnes Spain.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Tammy Young, Dr. Richard Friedman and their loving staff; along with all who compassionately cared for her at Hospice Ministries and Brandon Nursing and Rehab.
