Sunshine Searcy

Sunshine “Sunny” Searcy, 74, a resident of Pearl, MS, passed away Sun. Dec. 22, 2019 at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland, MS. Visitation will be held on Fri. Dec. 27, 2019 from 9am-10:15am at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS. Funeral Services are 10:30am on Fri. Dec. 27, 2019 at the Ott & Lee Funeral Home Chapel in Brandon, MS with burial to follow in the Floral Hills Memory Gardens in Pearl, MS.

Mrs. Searcy was born on Feb. 4, 1945 in Archibald, LA to the late Dewey Hutson and Roberta McCullough Hutson. She has been a resident of Pearl, MS since 1975 after moving from West Monroe, LA.  Mrs. Searcy attended Mangham High School and Northeast Louisiana Business School in Winnsboro, LA. She worked as an office manager and bookkeeper for Vaughn Construction, Midco Machinery Sales and Service, Manhattan Healthcare Center and Lakeland Nursing Center. Mrs. Searcy was a member of Park Place Baptist Church in Pearl, MS where she was a member of the Claudine Hern Sunday School Class. Mrs. Searcy was an avid MS State and Dallas Cowboys Fan. She also enjoyed working in her yard, camping and bowling in which she was a member of the Prime Timers Bowling League at Fannin Landing Bowling Lanes.

Mrs. Searcy is survived by her daughter, Julie Robbins (Bryan); two sons, Melvin Keith Searcy (Pam) and Jeffrey Randall Searcy (Sheila); sister, Lenora Upshaw; 13 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Mrs. Searcy is also preceded in death by her husband, Melvin R. Searcy; daughter, LaJuana Kaye Searcy Whitehead; two sisters, Bertha Sue Buckley and Marguarette Woodward and two brothers, Bobby Hutson and Johnny Hutson.
