Susan Waldrop Riley, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend, passed away peacefully on December 5, 2024, at the age of 77. She was surrounded by her loving family, who will forever cherish her unwavering love, selflessness, and boundless compassion.

Growing up in Morton MS, Susan attended Ole Miss before graduating from nursing school. For years she worked as a nurse, embodying the heart of her profession with grace, empathy, and kindness. The last 25 years of her career was with Magnolia Management and as President of Professional Provider Services. Her dedication to caring for others shaped her career and left a lasting impact on countless lives.

Susan was married to the love of her life, Ray Riley, for 45 wonderful years. Together, they built a home filled with love, laughter, and countless memories. They raised two children, Polly Riley Kellum (Chris) and Ben Brummett (Jessica), who inherited her steadfast values of love and service. Susan’s greatest joy came from her seven grandchildren, who knew her as “Nonnie” and their biggest supporter and gentle guide.

A true servant at heart, Susan put others before herself, letting her actions speak louder than words. Whether comforting patients or running businesses, she lived a life of quiet generosity and humility.

Susan also had a love for art, and her home was a beautiful testament to her keen eye and appreciation for creativity. She loved collecting unique pieces that told a story and reflected her vibrant spirit.

Susan was preceded  in death by her parents, WJ and Lo Waldrop. She is survived by her devoted husband Ray, her children Polly (Chris) and Ben (Jessica), and her seven grandchildren Riley, Reed, Anna, Hayes, Asa, Ashlyn, Bella and her brothers Mark (Dreama) and Mike (Sondra) Waldrop. Her legacy of love, strength, and selflessness lives on through her family and all those fortunate enough to have known her.

A celebration of Susan’s life will be held at 1pm Saturday, Dec 7, 2024 at First Baptist Church in Morton MS, with visitation beginning at 11am. There will be no graveside with burial in Morton Memorial Gardens.  In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Susan’s honor to Bellwether Church, P.O. Box 16782, Jackson, MS 39236,  https://www.bellwetherchurch.org/give or Mississippi Alzheimer’s Association, 196 Charmant Place, Ridgeland MS 39157.
