Susan Rebecca Smith Stogner Susan Rebecca Smith Stogner 69 of Florence, MS, passed away peacefully at home after an extended illness. Susan was born to the late Thomas and Eloise Smith in Jackson, Mississippi, she later moved to and grew up in Columbus, Mississippi where she graduated from S.D. Lee High School, and Mississippi State College for Women with a degree in Library Science. Susan was a homemaker who loved her family dearly, she devoted her life to caring for and raising her two sons. She volunteered with the Arthritis Foundation, and the Boy Scouts of America where she worked in their Scout Shop and also served as Cubmaster for Pack 577 in Florence, MS for several years. She loved cooking, embroidery, sewing, scrapbooking, bead crafting, photography, and most any other kind of arts and crafts, She was also an avid genealogist who loved researching many generations of family history. Susan’s biggest joy was her two granddaughters who were the light of her life. Susan loved the Lord and enjoyed reading her bible and listening to gospel music, we know she was welcomed home into Heaven by her savior and heard the words, well done my good and faithful servant!

In addition to her parents, Susan was preceded in death by her loving husband of 47 years, Tim Stogner, her son Mark Stogner, and granddaughter Hope Stogner. Left to cherish her memory are her son Andy Stogner (Shannon) of Florence, MS Granddaughters Brooke Stogner and Katie Stogner both of Florence,MS, Sisters Nancy Ellis of Chattanooga, TN, and Randye Temple of Florence, MS, Brother In Law’s Dale Stogner (Charlene) of Long Beach, MS, and Tommy Stogner (Martha) of Terry, MS, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Pallbearers will be Todd Stogner, Tommy Stogner, Michael Stogner, Michael Case, Gerald Duckworth, Harry Williams, Pat Matthews, and Kirby Smith. Honorary Pallbearer is Dale Stogner. In lieu of flowers donations in memory of Susan can be made to the Children’s Hospital of Alabama or to the University of Alabama at Birmingham Neurofibromatosis Clinic in honor of her granddaughter Brooke, or to the Arthritis Foundation in memory of Susan.

Visitation will be held Monday, December 26, 2022 from 12:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Brandon,MS followed by the funeral service at 2:00 P.M. in the funeral home chapel. Burial will take place following the funeral service at Terry Cemetery in Terry,MS.

The family wishes to express their thanks and appreciation to Dr. Greg Tisdale and his staff, and the staff of Enhabit Home Health and Hospice for their kindness, compassion, and loving care that they provided to mom in her final months.
