Tammy Diane Harris Beatty, 51, a resident of Morton passed away on Saturday, November 16th at Lackey Hospital in Forest. Visitation will be held Friday, November 22 from 9-12 at Morton Church of Jesus Name. Funeral service will begin at 12, followed by a graveside service at Morton Memorial Gardens. Brother John Goodhue will officiate.
Tammy was born in Tuscaloosa, AL on November 4, 1973 to the late Annie Moore. She was a member of Morton Church of Jesus Name. Tammy was an extraordinary woman. She was full of a light rare to be found in all the darkness we face on Earth. She was full of love, especially when it came to her family, who she cherished immensely. Tammy never walked a path where she didn't encounter a friend. We're never fully prepared to face days like these, to lose people in our life like her, who have been constant members of our daily routine and who we have relied on in our own times of trouble. There's a quote that goes, "As long as we can remember the love we shared; we can die without ever really going away. All the love we create is still there. All the memories are still there. We live on the hearts of everyone we have touched and nurtured while we're here." Nurturing is an important word for today. When we think about nurturing, we can relate it to one of Tammy's most important roles that she held in her life, and that's being a momma. She nurtured two of the people sitting in the toughest row of a funeral, her two children, but even as she is gone away, embedded into them are bits of her that will continue to live on in her memory for when her name is spoken from here on out.
It will not be said to be reminded of her passing, but as in remembrance that she lived. Funerals are never truly for the person who has left us, for their soul is already in an eternal abundance of peace. Instead, they are for all of us, her loved ones here today in hopes that this will serve as a sense of closure and a final way to say, "Until we meet again." And we will. But grief is like a heavy stone that you carry around in your pocket. You will always notice its presence, but the size of the stone will never grow smaller. Instead, as time goes on, you become stronger, and the stone will seem to grow lighter. Tammy served as a rock, as the stone. A stone pillar to her husband and children, to her grandchildren, to her nieces and nephews, and to her friends. The weight of her memory will always prosper on, for as long as we're all separated by Heaven and Earth.
Mrs. Beatty was preceded in death by her mother; her two sisters, Sandra Simmons and Betty Ann Waller; and her father-in-law, James Beatty. She is survived by her loving husband, Johnny Beatty; two children, Diego Marroquin, and Kristina Harris (Justin Rushing); grandchildren: Ryan, Graysen, and Dawson Rushing, Oakleigh Marroquin, and Waylon Rogers; nieces and nephews: Sandra Burkes, Andrew Dean, Dewayne Simmons, Ashley Thames, Joshua Simmons, Haley Simmons, Christopher Waller, and Anthony Waller; and a host of friends and church family.
