Charles Terrence (Terry) Phillips passed away September 2, 2017, after a sudden illness. Visitation was held on Sunday, September 03, 2017 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at the Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Morton and again on Monday, September 4, 2017 from 11:00 am until 1:45 pm. Funeral Services were held on Monday, September 4, 2017 at 2:00 pm from the Chapel of Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Morton, with interment at the Independence United Methodist Church Cemetery in Morton following the service.
Terry was born November 11, 1972 in Morton, Mississippi. He was a 1991 graduate of East Rankin Academy and received a BS in Poultry Science from Mississippi State University in 1994.
Terry was a lifelong resident of Morton and well known throughout the Independence community as a local cattle farmer and business owner. He was also employed as a Receiving Supervisor with Koch Foods, Inc. He was a lifelong member of the Independence United Methodist Church and strong supporter and fan of the East Rankin Patriots. Terry loved his family and friends very much and especially his children. Someone shared there was not anything that he would not do for his children, because he loved doing things with and for them.
He was preceded in death by his father, Roy Phillips; brother, Tim Phillips; grandparents, Peek and Nell Lewis, and Burley and Bessie Phillips.
Terry is survived by his wife, Kristen Harvey Phillips; his son, Justin Phillips, his daughter, Makenzie Phillips; his mother, Bea Phillips; his sisters, Roxie Phillips (Bob) Laird, Rhoda Phillips (Joe) Benton; father-in-law, Lacey Harvey and mother-in-law, Lynda Harvey; brother-in-law Kevin L. Harvey; sister-in-law, Dianne Harvey; in addition to a host of nieces and nephews Terry is also survived by an innumerable amount of friends. Terry leaves behind a legacy of community service and involvement as well as love and admiration.
Serving as pallbearers were Patrick Benton, Freddie Wayne Phillips, Blake Benton, Lee Martin, Brian Rhodes, Bobby Gray, R.P. Vanderford, and Kevin Harvey. Serving as honorary pallbearers were Jerry Harris, Billy McCurdy, and Johnny Harrell.
