Thelma Jewel “Judy” Weaver, age 81, resident of Leesburg, MS, passed away on Saturday, August 26, 2023, in Raleigh, MS. She was born on April 2, 1942 in Rankin County to Arnold Lee Harrell and Annie Martha Renfrow Harrell. She married Victor O’Neal Weaver and they made their home in Leesburg for many years. She was a member of Rehobeth Baptist Church. Thelma loved singing, reading, devoting time to volunteering, but her family was most important and spending time with them gave her great joy.
Thelma will be greatly missed. Her song may have ended, but her melody lingers on in the hearts of many.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Arnold and Martha Harrell; husband, Victor O’Neal Weaver; sister, Annie M. Cook; brother, Ronnie Harrell; son, Marty O'Neal Weaver; great granddaughter, Addison Tripp; and son-in-law, Lester Carter. She is survived by four children, Jewel Carter, Joel Weaver (Angela), Brenda McCaughn (Wendell), and Kimberly Graves (Joshua); thirteen grandchildren and eight great grandchildren, along with a host of other family and friends.
Visitation for Mrs. Thelma will be Tuesday, August 29, 2023 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Ott and Lee Funeral Home, in Morton, MS, and on Wednesday, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:50 a.m. with the Funeral Service starting at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Ott and Lee Funeral Home. Following the service, a graveside ceremony will be held at Rehobeth Baptist Cemetery in Leesburg, MS.
Bro. T.J. Bates and Bro. Bob Smith will be officiating at the services.
Pallbearers for the services will be: Chandler Weaver, Kyle Carter, Matthew Carter, Tyler McCaughn, Blake Hollowell, Landon Hollowell, and Jason Weaver.
