Thelma Huff Damico was born Nov. 27, 1939 at Johnson Clinic in Pelahatchie, MS, the first of three daughters of Ercy and Beatrice Purvis Huff. Thelma graduated from Puckett High School in 1957 and continued her education at Hinds Community College and The University of Southern Miss. She later earned two Masters Degrees from Mississippi College.
Thelma taught in several school systems with most of her career spent in the Jackson Public Schools.
In 1968 Thelma married Charles Damico and four years later they were blessed with their only child, son Doug. Thelma had many talents but considered being a good wife, mother and caregiver as being her mission and greatest challenge in life. She relied on her strong faith and Christian beliefs as strength and guidance during many years of caregiving to family members.
Thelma passed away February 23 at Baptist Hospital in Memphis TN and is preceded in death by her parents, beloved sister Dorothy Cobb and nephew Steve Cobb. She is survived by husband, Charles, son Doug (Kelly), granddaughter Novie, sister Sylvia Huff Hemphill (Bill), aunt & uncle Edith and Ron Palmer and many dear cousins.
Visitation is Sat. from 12:00 to 2:00 at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS with services to follow in the chapel. Interment will be at Lakewood Memorial Park in Clinton, MS.
