Thomas Otis Risher, born June 10, 1955 in Forest, MS died Thursday, September 9, 2010 in Starkville, Mississippi. Visitation will be at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Brandon from 5-7 pm Saturday, September 11. A memorial service will be on Sunday, September 12th at 2 pm at First Baptist Church Brandon with burial to follow in Pulaski Cemetery.

Tom graduated from Brandon Academy in 1973. He attended Mississippi State University where he received his Bachelor of Science in Marketing in 1977. From 1978 until 1988 he was employed with McRae’s Department Store in Jackson. He served as store manager for various stores, as well as corporate buyer. In 1985 he became Staff Assistant to the Senior Vice President of Stores and in 1988 he began his tenure as Executive Vice President of The Molpus Company until his retirement in 2008.

Tom Risher was a very capable businessman, but most importantly, he was a good, kind and decent person who cared deeply about his family, friends and the larger community. After suffering a stroke in 2008, he began his own personal ministry to others.

A young friend who knew Tom said, “If we all had the passion, love and drive that Tom has for Christ and serving Him, our world would be a radically different place.” He has influenced numerous lives for the cause of Christ.

Tom is survived by three daughters, Alice Kennedy, Margaret Michelle and Virginia Carol Risher and his sister, Carol Sylvia of Lancaster, South Carolina.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Wilson Research Foundation at the Methodist Rehabilitation Center, 1350 E. Woodrow Wilson Blvd, Jackson, MS 39216.
