Thomas Winstead

Thomas William Winstead was born September 11, 1939 and died at his home on September 2 2018.

Visitation will be Saturday, September 8, 2018 from 9:00 am until 10:45 am at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Morton.  A memorial service will follow at 11:00 am in the funeral home chapel.

Mr. Winstead was a graduate from Pelahatchie High School. He attended Hinds Junior College, graduated from Mississippi College and earned master degrees in two fields of studies. He served his time in the armed services of his country in both active and reserves states. He taught high school history, coached sports and was employed as a counselor in public school systems across the central area of Mississippi. After retiring from teaching, Thomas stayed busy by working in retail at businesses in Hinds and Rankin counties. Thomas was a member of Pelahatchie Baptist Church all of his adult life.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother: Asa and Effie Cooper Winstead:  two brothers: Herbert Winstead and Aubert D. Winstead; and two sisters: Mae W. Tucker and Ethel Winstead Simpson.

Survivors include one sister-n-law: Lorraine G. Winstead; and three nephews: Rev. John Tucker (Pam), Ken Simpson (Carol) and Gregory Winstead.
