Michael Toby Gatewood, age 66, of Pelahatchie, passed away on Monday, October 29, 2018 at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland, MS.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, October, 31, 2018 at 9:30am at Ott and Lee Funeral Home, Brandon with Rev. Mitchell Hedgepeth officiating. Interment will follow in Gatewood Family Cemetery. Pallbearers will be fellow members of the Hinds Hunting Club. Visitation will be Tuesday, October 30, 2018 from 5:00pm until 7:00pm at Ott and Lee Funeral Home, Brandon.
He was born to the late Joe Marion Gatewood and Bobbye Nell Tadlock Gatewood on November 25, 1951 in Jackson, MS.
Toby lettered in football all three years at Wingfield High School where he graduated in 1969. While attending Wingfield he met the love of his life Kay Parker. They were soon married after high school and have been together in marriage for 48 years. In the 70’s, he raced Motocross and Enduro. He enjoyed fishing and water skiing. Toby was the Owner Operator of Gatewood Enterprises Inc. waterproofing contractors. He served in the Air National Guard, was an avid hunter, and a member over 40 years of the Hinds Hunting Club, on Kings Point Island, Vicksburg.
He was preceded in death by his younger brother Jeff Gatewood.
Toby is survived by his wife Kay Parker Gatewood of Pelahatchie; daughter, Sherry Patton (Eric) of Memphis; two grandsons, Ryan Patton and Thomas Patton; nephew, Jamie Parker (Tara) of Canton; aunt, Joyce Tadlock Fleming (Bobby) of Grenada; aunt, Rilla Gatewood Dixon of Hattiesburg; and a host of other cousins and friends.
