Thomas "Tom" Pinkney Nelson, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on September 16, 2023, in Brandon, Mississippi.

He was born on July 29, 1932, in Monticello, Mississippi to the late Dewitt and Ottis Nelson. He served in the U.S Army during the Korean War.

He had an unwavering devotion to his wife Irma and together they shared many beautiful moments over the years. They particularly loved their shared passion for square dancing – always finding joy twirling around the dance floor together. Their harmonious steps were a testament to their deep bond and love for one another.

In addition to dancing with his beloved Irma, Tom enjoyed working out to stay fit and healthy. Tom was a member of Crossgates Baptist Church and was regularly active in his Sunday School Class.

Tom is survived by his wife, Irma Nelson, son Stephen (Kathy) Nelson, daughter Rebecca (Jeffrey) Johnson, grandson Daniel (Bailey) Barnett, great-granddaughter Lucy James Barnett, and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Voniece Thames, and brother Denver Nelson.

Private family services will be held at a later date.

Let us remember Tom Nelson as a remarkable man who touched the lives of many. He will always be remembered and dearly missed by those who had the privilege of knowing him. Your light will forever shine brightly in our hearts.

In lieu of flowers please make donations to OneHope Missions Crossgates, 8 Crosswoods Rd. Brandon, MS 39042.
