Tommie Wayne Burns, 58, a resident of Morton died Thursday, February 12, 2015 at his home. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm Saturday, February 14, 2015 with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11 am until 2 pm Saturday, February, 14, 2015 at Sharon Baptist Church in Smith County. Rev. Jimmy Arender will officiate the services. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Ott and Lee Funeral Home Funeral Home in Morton.
Mr. Burns was a native of Scott County. He was the son of John Harvey Burns and Honor Doris Richardson Burns. He was married to Nancy Faye Harris Burns. Mr. Burns was the owner and operator of Burns Automotive. He was a member of the Colonial Chapel Baptist Church in Brandon. He enjoyed hunting and being in the outdoors with his grandchildren and friends. He loved his family and spending time with them brought great joy to his life. He will be missed by all who loved and knew him.
Mr. Burns was preceded in death his father, John Harvey Burns; sister, Ann Massey; brothers, Mack Floyd Burns and Harvey Mike Burns and his father in law, Curtis Harris.
Mr. Burns is survived by his wife, Nancy Burns; children, Kellie Nicole (Steve) Hupperich, Shannon Dulane McNaughton, Tracey Ann (Kenneth) Slawson and John Robert McNaughton (Leslie Sinclair); mother, Honor Doris Burns; sister, Johnnie Rose (Tommy) Winstead; brother, Oliver Hershel (Sue) Burns; mother in law, Dulane Ross Harris; sisters in law, Peggy Ann (Bo) Smith, Rachel Lynn (Larry) Weathersby and Debra Burns; brother in law, Ray Massey; 4 grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
