TOMMY NELSON ROLAND

PEARL

Mr. Tommy Nelson Roland, age 47, died Thursday, May 13, 2010. Visitation was held 5pm-9pm Friday, May 14, 2010 at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton and resumed 8am-3pm Saturday at the funeral home. Funeral services were held 3pm Saturday, May 15, 2010 from the Ott & Lee Chapel in Morton with burial in Hodge Hill Cemetery. Rev. J.C. Stewart and Bro. Tommy Wayne Mohon officiated the services.

Mr. Roland was a lifelong resident of Rankin County. He loved to hunt and be in the serenity of nature. One of his favorite things to do was to reach into the muddy water of a lake blindly and hand-grab a fish. He never met a stranger no matter where he went. Tommy loved children and they loved him. This man had no trouble at all in conversing with a four year old. Children, you see, are the best judges of character. They might not be able to put names on words like, decency and honor, but they knew that he was a good man. He will greatly missed by all who loved and knew him.

Preceded in death by his grandparents, William J. Roland & Jennie Dee Roland and Jodie Stewart & Mozelle Stewart.

He is survived by a close friend, Leah Allen of Lexington; one daughter, Andrea Joann Bone (Brannon) of Crosby, TX; father, George Thomas Roland of Pearl; mother, Mary Nell Stewart Roland of Morton; 2 brothers, George Michael Roland of Pearl and Thomas Dale Roland (Cathy Lynn) of Pearl; uncle, Willie Jimmy Roland (Janie) of Pearl; 6 grandchildren, Nathen Bang, Colton Bone, Anna Bang, James Fagnana, Matthew Fagnana and Corbon Bone, all of Crosby, TX; 2 step grandchildren, Payton & Katlyn Odom of Kosciusko; many aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of friends.

Pallbearers were Carl Daniel Mohon, Jonah Mohon, John Lorts, Wayne Mohon Jr., Sean Roland, James Mohon, Ray Thornton, Doug Garver and Jack Stewart. Honorary pallbearers were Nathen Bang and Colton Bone.

Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton was in charge of arrangements.
