Tommy Wayne Thompson, 70, passed away Mon. Feb. 27, 2017 at his home in Brandon, MS. Visitation will be held on Wed. March 1, 2017 from 5pm-7pm at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS and on Thurs. March 2, 2017 from 10am-10:45am at Oakdale Baptist Church in Brandon, MS. Funeral Services are 11am on Thurs. March 2, 2017 at Oakdale Baptist Church with burial to follow in Lakewood Memorial Park Cemetery in Jackson, MS.

Mr. Thompson was born in Oxford, MS, grew up in Jackson, MS and has lived in the Reservoir Area since 1976. He was a member of Oakdale Baptist Church in Brandon, MS. Tommy was ordained as a deacon at Calvary Baptist Church of Jackson, MS in 1978. He also served as a deacon and Sunday School teacher at Pinelake Baptist Church for many years. Mr. Thompson enjoyed baseball in which he played all through his youth and at Mississippi College where he made many records that stand to this day. Coach Tommy (better known as Pappy) touched many lives during the years. From coaching his own sons to instructing his grandsons, Pappy thoroughly enjoyed the game of baseball. He was a regular at every game, sometimes traveling from field to field to see all his grandkids play. In 2015, Mr. Thompson was inducted into the Mississippi Baseball Congress Hall of Fame and the Mississippi Semi-Pro Hall of Fame for his accomplishments in baseball. Mr. Thompson also enjoyed bass fishing, but most of all he was a very loving family man who enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Billie Scroggins Thompson; two daughters, Tiffiney Henderson (Evan) and Kristin Kerley (Kevin); two sons, Cory Thompson (Shauna) and Josh Thompson (Loni), and 11 grandchildren. Mr. Thompson is preceded in death by his parents, William and Dorothy Thompson.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Northwest Rankin Baseball Booster Club at 5805 Hwy. 25 Flowood, MS 39232.
