Tonya Lynn Hickson Bauler was born in Laurel, Mississippi on Wednesday, February 16, 1983. She passed away at the Lackey Memorial Hospital in Forest, Mississippi on Tuesday, September 14, 2021 with her family by her bedside at the age of 38 after an extended illness of over three years.
Tonya was a graduate of Raleigh High School, and a homemaker. She will be remembered for the love that she had for her family in particular her two sons, Adam and Nathaniel, her mother Kathy and her grandmother, Mrs. Mae Bell, and her sister: Tasha. Tonya had a genuine innate passion for music, all styles. She also loved the color – purple, which symbolizes spirituality, imagination, and royalty. The color also has the effects of enlightenment and inspiration, with positive impacts of compassion, wisdom and creativity. A Christian by faith, holding affiliation with Decedar Baptist Church, at Lawrence, her sweet and kind demeanor were evidences of the character traits that she possessed. In a closeness to the mother/daughter relationship, speaks volumes, as the first word and the last word, Tonya spoke, was “Mama,” She will be missed by her family and friends.
Survivors include her two sons: Adam Bauler, age 7, and Nathaniel Sanchez, age 5; her mother: Mrs. Kathy Harris Hickson; her maternal grandmother: Mrs. Mae Bell Harris Moncrief; her sister: Tasha (Ricky) Stewart; one niece: Annabelle Stewart and one nephew: Alexander Stewart; two aunts: Shirley (Mike) Kinkead and Roberta (Mike) Hayman; one uncle: Dennis Clayton Hickson, and several cousins.
Tonya is preceded in death by her father: Tony Hickson; her paternal grandparents: Clayton and Iva Jewel Hickson; maternal grandfather: Billie B. Harris and her maternal step-grandfather: Jason Moncrief.
