Toxie Hall Givens, Jr.

Toxie Hall Givens, Jr. passed away Sunday, August 25, 2024, at home with his best friend and love of his life, Mary, by his side.

Visitation will be at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. A funeral service will take place at Brandon Baptist Church on Thursday, August 29, 2024, at 11:00 am with visitation from 9:30 am until the time of service. Mr. Givens will be laid to rest in Crestview Memorial Gardens.

Toxie was born in Tylertown, Mississippi, on April 28, 1944, to Toxie Givens, Sr. and Willie Mae Mathis Givens. He was raised in Columbia, Mississippi. He attended school in Columbia, Pearl River Junior College, and Jackson State University. He graduated from the Mississippi Law Enforcement Officers Training Academy. He worked as the Bureau Director of Collections and Law Enforcement at the State Tax Commission. 

He loved the Lord, his church, his friends, and his family. Hunting was his best and favorite thing to do. He travelled all over the USA hunting. Toxie loved to travel to Jacksonville, Florida to watch Lyndsey perform ballet. He also loved hunting with Tad in Georgia. When he was home, he would go to horse events and support Fallon running barrels or jumping. He loved his grandchildren so much. He was an avid Mississippi State football fan. 

He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother.

Toxie is survived by his wife of 56 years, Mary Givens; his son, Toxie Givens, III and wife, Kelly; his daughter, Courtney Frisby and husband, Robert; three grandchildren, Toxie Givens, IV, Lyndsey Givens, and Fallon Frisby; and Charlie the Cockapoo.

Toxie’s family would like to especially thank several caregivers for three years and ten months, especially Freda Murrial. We would also like to thank our church friends, friends growing up and friends God gave him. He would thank God for his precious son and daughter. We could not have made it without friends, family, church, and most of all, GOD.
