Born, Friday, February 15, 1918, in Scott County, Mrs. Vallie Turner Burns left this earthly realm for the portals of eternity Tuesday, September 8, 2020 under the care of the staff at Mississippi Care Center in Morton at age of 102 years, 6 months, and 21 days.
Over her lifespan as a centurion, in Scott County, Mississippi, Mrs. Burns was a longtime member of Carr Methodist Church, Smith County, Mississippi, exercising her faith in the Lord Jesus. She was a retired secretary for the local Farm Bureau agency where she served on the Scott County Farm Bureau Women’s Board. She enjoyed cooking and traveling, and will be remembered for her love for others, as she strived to fulfill the commitment of a Christian, in helping others. She was a member of the Norris Homemaker’s Club, where she exhibited her determination to participate actively, even at age 99. Her memory will be blessed, as she has left a wonderful example of happiness, contentment, peacefulness, and faith for other to live by.
It is with hope and joy that as the life of Vallie Burns ended here, that the sure and certain hope of resurrection has begun as she is reunited with her family that have gone on before her, her husband: Roy C. Burns, two children: Roy Turner (Christine) Burns, and Zora Lana Burns. Her parents, Frank and Alma Tadlock Turner precede her in death as well as all of her siblings.
A time of visitation and celebration of her life will be Friday, September 11, 2020 at Carr Methodist Church. The service will begin at 3:00 pm with visitation one hour preceding at the church. Interment will follow in the Carr Methodist Cemetery under the direction of Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Forest.
